The 2008 Honda Accord Coupe Concept is a complete new look for the next-generation Accord. It was officially revealed at the Detroit Motorshow and I must say it is a real beauty!

“The Accord Coupe Concept demonstrates the styling direction for the upcoming, eighth-generation Accord,” said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda. “As the industry’s target for midsize segment excellence, the all-new Accord will set a new benchmark for safety, efficiency, performance, refinement and style.”
The Accord is Honda’s best-selling model in North America and its debut at all other major motor shows marks the first time that an Accord concept vehicle has ever been shown at a major auto show.

At it’s offical launch, the 2008 Honda Accord will be offered with a choice of in-line four and V-6 engines. A new ‘clean’ diesel is not expected to be launched until 2009, a hybrid will be following soon after. Despite flat-lining sales of the current Accord hybrid, Honda is sticking with a green version so as to stay in the game with the new Camry, Altima, and Saturn Aura gas-electrics.
Quadruple exhaust outlets set into the bumper of the concept signal the performance potential of the coupe, which Honda says will be offered with a more powerful and fuel efficient V-6 than the mill in the current car—possibly a version of the new, 300-hp 3.7-liter V-6 that’s in the Acura MDX—as well as Variable Cylinder Management, Honda’s cylinder-deactivation system when the ‘08 Accord hits showrooms in the fall of 2007.
