The first car I ever owned was an ancient yellow Honda Convertible S600, which my father gave to me when I was about seventeen years old. I loved it, it was going like a rocket, but also a huge gas and pocket money guzzler.

Tip! • Another feature of an effective automotive security system is an immobilizer or kill switch to shut off the ignition/starter or perhaps the fuel pump. Certainly, such features make driving off with the car extremely difficult. One of the worst things for the clear coat on your automobile is bird-droppings. Just ask any auto detailer, car washer or automotive refinisher at any body shop and they will tell you all about it.

Bird-droppings need to be cleaned off a car quickly as they can be just as damaging as egg or even brake fluids or battery acid. If you park your car under a tree and there are birds in that tree it makes sense to have a healthy multi-coat wax job on your car to protect it. I recommend waxing your car at least once per month after you have strong base coat consisting of four or five coats already on it. This will insure that the bird droppings can be wiped right off without soaking thru the clear coat. continue

Leasing Sports Cars

Posted by car lover Comments Off

Car-leasing has been lauded as a more attractive alternative to buying, offering in the process the flexibility to drive a new car for less. The reality, however, is that leasing is an option that is fraught with many pitfalls for the average customer. Leasing regulation does not require as much disclosure as buying a vehicle. This has given rise to many leasing scams that trick the customer into believing they are into a good deal when, in effect, all he is getting is a rough deal on the dealer’s terms.

Here we look at some of these common scams and how to avoid them

When leasing a car, it’s easier to stick with the same company for your auto insurance. What you don’t know, however, is that you may end up paying too much for your coverage and it’s better to look elsewhere for lower rates.

When you lease, the vehicle that you will drive belongs to the leasing company. They want to make sure that their investment is covered in the event the vehicle gets damaged, totalled or stolen. They typically want to get covered for the difference between what your auto-insurer pays and your outstanding leasing obligations at the time of the accident or damage. This is called GAP, short for Guaranteed Auto Protection, and is usually included in the leasing contract.

Even when you have that classic or sports car, make sure that when you have a new baby, to have a proper fitting baby car seat. As some of these sports cars have smaller rear seats, it’s important to find a correct fitting one, as it must be installed in the correct manner in order to protect your baby in the event of a car accident. It is also to important for car insurance cover as most hospitals won’t cover for injuries if the baby was not buckled up in a car seat. Even at some hospitals they insist on seeing the baby seat before the allow the mother and new baby to leave!

Thank goodness there are many kinds of infant car seats, so there should be no reason not to have one. The best ones to use are the kind that has a base that can be buckled securely onto the car seat, and the carry part itself can be lifted off and carried around by the handle. This is very important to consider as the baby can now be easily carried to and from the house or wherever one is going while strapped into the seat. These infant seats usually will only be safe for transporting babies facing backward, until the age of one year. When the baby is 18 pounds, and at least one year old, it is time for a forward-facing baby car seat. Plus, by the time the baby is that old, and weighs 18 pounds, he will be too heavy to lug around that way! You will want to get the baby out of the baby car seat, and carry him, or he may even be walking by then!

The fact remains that contrary to other peoples believes that high performance Sports cars are here to stay. High performance cars will always be popular as shown by the increased demand for sports cars. Manufacturers still have to use their sports car line so that they can show to the regular car buyer’s new developments, design elements and safety features. This is despite the fact that a lot of these features and a lot of these great qualities can be now enjoyed by all on regular car types.

People will and shall always admire Sport cars, maybe they may not be as practical for the daily commute, as they are purely leisure vehicles. This is understandable as four door sedans, SUV’s, practical pickup trucks, and smaller cars are more practical for the day to day use of cars. Even though we see fewer Sports cars on the road that does not mean that they are still as popular as ever. Sure because of lighter construction, some other types of automobiles are more convenient and as they have more power may perform and give that little bit of that Sports car feel.

Be Well-Researched

It does not matter whether you drive fast cars or not! Do you have any idea where you are heading too? How often have you turned around and went back to that gas station just a mile back. You may have to do that so that you can ask for directions, so that we at least are not lost anymore.

Of course you won’t turn around, because I happen to know exactly where we are. This is a classic story that we have all heard before as a child, the driver always thinks that he’s right! It’s the usual mother and father in the front seat of the family car. The father is driving, while the mother struggles with a torn map. I can honestly say that I have no idea why men don’t like to stop and acquire valid directions. It’s a vice that’s eternal in the XY makeup. Oh well. Anyway, things are not exactly the same anymore when it comes to finding your destination. In fact, now days we all have access to auto navigation systems. These babies are the bomb! I don’t care where you’re headed.
