The first car I ever owned was an ancient yellow Honda Convertible S600, which my father gave to me when I was about seventeen years old. I loved it, it was going like a rocket, but also a huge gas and pocket money guzzler.

Tip! • Another feature of an effective automotive security system is an immobilizer or kill switch to shut off the ignition/starter or perhaps the fuel pump. Certainly, such features make driving off with the car extremely difficult. One of the worst things for the clear coat on your automobile is bird-droppings. Just ask any auto detailer, car washer or automotive refinisher at any body shop and they will tell you all about it.
Bird-droppings need to be cleaned off a car quickly as they can be just as damaging as egg or even brake fluids or battery acid. If you park your car under a tree and there are birds in that tree it makes sense to have a healthy multi-coat wax job on your car to protect it. I recommend waxing your car at least once per month after you have strong base coat consisting of four or five coats already on it. This will insure that the bird droppings can be wiped right off without soaking thru the clear coat. continue

While the Japanese have long held control of the Asian sector of the foreign car market in America, and Korean-made Kias and Hyundais have climbed the hard ladder of respectability to deliver impressive 2007 models, Americans should brace themselves for the introduction of Chinese-made vehicles in the U.S. (potentially by the end of this year).

Hybrid vehicles’ popularity has sharply grown from a couple of thousands
in early 2000 to close to 300, 000 by the end of 2005. The trend is
rapidly catching with the auto-leasing industry with generous tax credits
and incentives on offer if you go green.
Beginning in 2006, businesses and taxpayers who lease, or purchase, an
environmentally-friendly and fuel-efficient vehicle will be eligible to
claim federal income tax credits worth thousands of dollars. Individual
states also offer generous incentives, including hybrid state tax credits,
new High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes access and discounted thruway tolls
for alternative-fuelled vehicles.
And that’s not all you can save from going green! You can now save on your
parking fees at a number of universities and some auto-insurance companies
are offering insurance discounts for hybrid-vehicle owners nationwide.

Most consumers have heard of hybrid vehicles, but many of them could not explain the definition. The actual definition of the word “hybrid” is stated as something of mixed origin or composition. This definition fits today’s hybrid vehicles perfectly. A hybrid car is a vehicle that has both a gasoline engine and an electric motor. The gasoline engine is often smaller than in regular vehicles, allowing the electric motor to compensate with energy. A high-voltage battery charges the electric motor. Although older hybrid cars need to be “plugged up” when not in use, newer hybrids recharge themselves when not in use.
The interesting thing about a hybrid vehicle is that they can often work on just one of the energy resources; the gasoline engine or the electric motor. Most drivers operate their hybrid using both resources however, even though they may not know it.

Car-leasing has been lauded as a more attractive alternative to buying,
offering in the process the flexibility to drive a new car for less. The
reality, however, is that leasing is an option that is fraught with many
pitfalls for the average customer. Leasing regulation does not require as
much disclosure as buying a vehicle. This has given rise to many leasing
scams that trick the customer into believing they are into a good deal
when, in effect, all he is getting is a rough deal on the dealer’s terms.
Here we look at some of these common scams and how to avoid them

The 2007 Honda Civic Coupe is a technological marvel, and is the most advanced piece of automotive machinery in existence today. Hmm, okay, so maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration. If you’ve been keeping up with car reviews, the praise the new 2007 Honda Civics have been getting would lead you to think that it is indeed some kind of engineering break through. The 2007 Honda Civic may not be the most advanced car on the planet, but for its price range it may be the most practical, and most reliable.

When leasing a car, it’s easier to stick with the same company for your auto insurance. What you don’t know, however, is that you may end up paying too much for your coverage and it’s better to look elsewhere for lower rates.
When you lease, the vehicle that you will drive belongs to the leasing company. They want to make sure that their investment is covered in the event the vehicle gets damaged, totalled or stolen. They typically want to get covered for the difference between what your auto-insurer pays and your outstanding leasing obligations at the time of the accident or damage. This is called GAP, short for Guaranteed Auto Protection, and is usually included in the leasing contract.

Even when you have that classic or sports car, make sure that when you have a new baby, to have a proper fitting baby car seat. As some of these sports cars have smaller rear seats, it’s important to find a correct fitting one, as it must be installed in the correct manner in order to protect your baby in the event of a car accident. It is also to important for car insurance cover as most hospitals won’t cover for injuries if the baby was not buckled up in a car seat. Even at some hospitals they insist on seeing the baby seat before the allow the mother and new baby to leave!
Thank goodness there are many kinds of infant car seats, so there should be no reason not to have one. The best ones to use are the kind that has a base that can be buckled securely onto the car seat, and the carry part itself can be lifted off and carried around by the handle. This is very important to consider as the baby can now be easily carried to and from the house or wherever one is going while strapped into the seat. These infant seats usually will only be safe for transporting babies facing backward, until the age of one year. When the baby is 18 pounds, and at least one year old, it is time for a forward-facing baby car seat. Plus, by the time the baby is that old, and weighs 18 pounds, he will be too heavy to lug around that way! You will want to get the baby out of the baby car seat, and carry him, or he may even be walking by then!
